7. Table Mountain, Green Market Square, Camps Bay

As I was sick, I didn't go to school on Thursday and Friday. I was lying in bed and sleeping all day so that's why there's no blog updates for those two days, but here's my blog message for Saturday:

Yesterday we went on the hop-on hop-off bus. We met up with the Dutch exchangees plus the South American Herschell (Girl's School) exchangees and of course all their hosts. We bought our bus tickets at the aquarium and got on the bus. The bus was a read double-decker and the upper deck was open, this was really cool because we could sit outside in the sun.

The bus took us on a tour through the entire city and we saw lots of cool things. We got off the bus at Green Market Square, which is a touristic, little market square. We walked around the stalls and looked at what they were selling, mainly handmade wooden stuff and souvenirs made out of soda cans. After we finished looking around the market, we had some cold drinks at a restaurant.

Then, we got back on to the bus. The bus drove us to the cableway station, where we exited and went up with the cable car. It was really cool because the floor inside the cable car turns, so that everyone can enjoy the different views. Once on top of the mountain, we enjoyed amazing views over Cape Town, its suburbs and its beaches. We saw these little rodents between the rocks, that really looked like big guinea pigs, apparently these are called "dassies" and their closest relative is the African Elephant which is hard to believe as dassies are really small and furry creatures and don't look like elephants at all! As we all got hungry, we decided to have lunch at the Table Mountain CafĂ©. I had a hamburger with French fries and salad, it was really good! :)

After we took the cableway down, we got on the bus again. We got off at Camps Bay, which is a really nice beach that looks very cool because of the mountains in the background. We were all very warm and decided to feel the ocean's temperature. It was very very very cold!!! So swimming was not an option. :( The wind was very strong and we decided to take the bus again and get out at Clifton which is another beach that's less windy because the mountains shield the wind off. We went to a cool restaurant and had some cold drinks again and just talked a bit. Then, we were brought back home.

That's it for Saturday! Here are some pictures:
